First, which terminal is your ship using?
One of two: the Overseas Passenger Terminal at Circular Quay, or White Bay Cruise Terminal on the Balmain peninsula. Your cruise line's documents for this sailing say which. The terminal is assigned per voyage, not per cruise line, and the two are not interchangeable on sailing day, so check the documents rather than remembering last time.
Getting to the Overseas Passenger Terminal at Circular Quay
Circular Quay is one of Sydney's main public transport interchanges. Trains, ferries, light rail and buses all stop there, a short walk from the terminal. With a cabin bag, that is an easy trip. By car, the terminal is a set-down, not a park: the driver stops at the nearest legal kerb and you may walk a short way to the doors with your bags. Getting to White Bay Cruise Terminal
White Bay is a road-access terminal in practice. It is not served by a rail station at the gate, and cruise luggage makes a walk-in connection difficult, so most passengers arrive by car. If you want to try public transport, check the trip planner for the current options before the day, not on the morning of sailing.
Set-down is at the terminal's designated point, where your line's luggage drop takes the large bags. Keep passports, medication and boarding documents in a bag that stays with you. The White Bay cruise transfer page has the details.
Straight from the airport to the ship
If you can land the day before, land the day before: a missed flight costs a seat on the next plane, but a missed boarding window costs the cruise. On a same-day connection, plan the transfer backwards from the boarding time in your documents, not forwards from the landing time. A transfer is priced per vehicle, one way, in a sedan:

Coming home: disembarkation morning
Book the pickup against your assigned disembarkation time, not the ship's arrival time. Ships release passengers in groups across a few hours, and a whole ship's worth of people reaches one kerb inside that window. That is exactly when a pre-booked car is worth more than a queue.
